Product Overview

Pedigree:
Vignamato had its beginnings in the 1940's. The Ceci family recognized a very fine terroir and had a passion, true to this day, to produce world class Verdicchio. Land was acquired in San Paolo di Jesi in the Le Marche region of Italy. Multiple versions of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico are produced, including a famous sweet wine. The Classico area is the historical area of production, and in this region, wine making goes back to Roman times. Vignamato also makes red and sparkling wine, including Lacrima di Morro d'Alba DOP, a rare and fragrant wine, redolent of fresh roses. But today, our offering is even rarer. The area is home to a wild cherry called Visciola and it is Vi' de Visciola we offer today. This is a unique wine and unsurprisingly, the Italians refer to wines such as this as "Molto Particolare" - one of a kind.

Winemaking:
The wine is made from an ancient recipe, dating back to the 1800's. The wild cherries, Visciole, are left to macerate with some sugar. In October, they undergo a second fermentation with refined musts from the red grapes of the Vignamato vineyards. The extended production cycle and special processing result in a unique, rare and precious drink. The wine is aged in bottle for a few months before release.
Alcohol: 14.5%

Tasting Notes:
Color: A beautiful robe, deep ruby red with violet hues, opaque.
Nose: High notes of sour cherry, cherry, violet, and Marasca cherry. An underlying spice weaves through it.

Palate:
The nose carries through to the palate. The powerful cherry character and definite sweetness are balanced by a fresh acidity and robust, though fine grained tannins. The wine has an elegance that smooths its powerful personality. It has wonderful culinary applications but is also terrific to sip on its own.
Serving Temperature: 55° F - 65° F

Food Pairing:
Excellent with traditional desserts, fruit cakes and compote. Spoil yourself and your family and friend, drizzle it over ice-cream. Salute!
